How to play
  1. Make a lobby and send your friends the 5-number code (or the invite link).
  2. A lobby starts with 4 to 6 horses with silly names (the host can set anywhere from 2 to 8). The same horses race every round, and your last pick and bet stay selected until you change them. Pick one and bet 1 to 20 chips. Lots of people can back the same horse, but only the first person to pick it gets to name it and dress it up: zebra stripes, rainbow manes, jetpacks, sombreros and plenty more (just for looks).
  3. The track has 20 gates, or anywhere from 3 to 100 if the host changes it (try a quick 7-gate race). Horses don't run: each one hops forward one gate at a time, at random, so even a horse way out in front can still lose. Every time all the horses make it through the next gate, the race freezes: one horse gets boosted forward a gate ⚡ and another gets set back a gate 🐌. No horse can get more boosts, or more setbacks, than 30% of the gates (rounded up): 6 each on 20 gates, 3 on 7 gates, 30 on 100.
  4. No runaways: each horse can only hop forward 110% of the gates (rounded up, so 22 hops on 20 gates; boosts don't count, setbacks still cost ground), and the leader is never more than 25% of the gates (rounded up, so 5 on 20 gates) ahead of second place. Every race is written out in full the moment it starts, then played out.
  5. If your horse wins, you win the chips you bet, and you get twice your bet in penalties to dish out to anyone else, split however you like, but no mercy: you have to hit at least one person. They get a popup saying you attacked them.
  6. If your horse loses, you take penalties equal to your bet.
  7. Everyone's chips won and penalties taken are tallied under their name in the lobby.
